Former National Football League Athlete Antonio Brown Enters Innocent Response in Attempted Murder Charges
Former National Football League player Antonio Brown is heading to Miami to confront an murder attempt charge connected with a shooting that happened in May, as his lawyer entering a innocent plea on his behalf.
Detention logs in Essex County, New Jersey, indicate that Brown was discharged on Tuesday early for his relocation to Florida. Brown, a highly popular athletes in the NFL, had forgone transfer to Florida from New Jersey, in which he was detained after being arrested in Dubai.
Brown’s attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, said in an email that he has previously lodged a documented not guilty response to the murder attempt allegation. Brown could be in a Miami court as early as Wednesday morning for a bail session, Eiglarsh added.
Based on his apprehension document, Brown is accused of grabbing a firearm from a safety guard after a star match event in May and shooting a couple of rounds at a person he had fought with before. The claimed victim, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, informed police that one of the bullets grazed his neck.
Eiglarsh asserted that Brown was only defending himself from Nantambu.
“The actions he was forced to take were purely in defense against the reported person’s hostile actions. Brown was attacked that time and behaved within his lawful right to defend himself,” Eiglarsh commented.
Brown was not immediately arrested because at first police did not recognize Nantambu as a victim. It wasn’t until afterward in May that Nantambu gave a full statement about the event to authorities and identified Brown as the perpetrator, the affidavit indicates.
Based on his social media posts, Brown had been residing in the city of Dubai for multiple period. In a message after the altercation, Brown stated he was defending himself because he was “jumped by several individuals who attempted to steal my valuables and cause bodily injury to me.”
A second-degree attempted murder allegation in Florida bears a highest fifteen-year prison penalty and up to a ten thousand dollar fee in the instance of a guilty verdict.
Brown has dealt with multiple legal problems over the time. He before had been alleged of physical attack of a truck operator, several family violence allegations, inability to pay parental support and other incidents.
During a 2021 season game with his team against the opponents, Brown took off his shirt, equipment and gloves and ran off the field, causing his release by the team and practically ending his football tenure.
Brown, who had 12 years in the league, was an All-Pro player who devoted most of his career with his team. For his professional life, Brown had over 900 catches for over 12,291 yards, the twenty-eighth highest of history. He was a 7-time Pro Bowl pick.
